In January 2025, the Bikubenfonden moved to Thoravej 29 – A building that recycles itself
The building is a visionary example of sustainable transformation and circular economy, where existing materials are given new life: ceilings have become stairs, facades have become floors, and old doors have been transformed into new tables. The project has already been named Building of the Year and winner of the Building Award by Licitationen, and the building is aiming for DGNB Gold certification.
At PhoneAlone, we are proud to be part of this groundbreaking project. In collaboration with designer Sara Martinsen, we have developed a booth created with a focus on responsibility, where unnecessary material layers have been omitted or replaced with bio-based alternatives. Sara reached out to us because of our good soundproof booths, their neutral design and because we and the Bikubenfonden could see the potential in further developing our solutions to match the project’s requirements for both responsibility and aesthetics. At the Bikubenfonden, they experienced that their members were asking for flexible spaces for meetings, conversations and concentrated work, and our booths have met that. The booths fit naturally with the raw natural aesthetics that complement the rest of the house at Thoravej 29.
Our production method made it possible to meet the wishes of the Bikubenfonden and contribute with products that support their vision. The booth is designed to complement the aesthetics of the building with its raw, natural and honest expression, where the origin of the materials is clear and where everything is recycled.
We are happy to contribute with our solutions, which fit perfectly with the project’s strong focus on responsible and sustainable design and which at the same time create peace and opportunity for immersion in an otherwise open and vibrant house.
At Thoravej 29, they also speak very positively about the project and the delivered booths, which have already brought great joy: “The booths have added both functional value and aesthetic quality to our working environment at Thoravej 29. They create space for immersion in an open and vibrant house and match our vision of responsible transformation through sustainable materials and well-thought-out design. We experience that they have become a natural and appreciated part of our members’ everyday lives.”
